Classroom Presentations
Mecklenburg Soil and Water Conservation District personnel are available to visit schools at any time throughout the school year to discuss conservation topics related to soil and water.
Mecklenburg SWCD can design a program specifically for your students, but we ask that the class size for these programs be kept to 25 or fewer students. We can schedule an all-day event to accommodate multiple classes.
To schedule a presentation or for more information, please contact Anganette Byrd, Certified Environmental Educator at 704-336-2455.
Presentations Include Hands-On Activities From the Following:
Project Food, Land and People
Provides educational resources and promotes approaches to learning that help educators and students to better understand the interrelationships among agriculture, the environment, and the people of the world.
Project Wet (Water Education for Teachers)
Promotes awareness, appreciation, knowledge, and stewardship of water resources.
Project Learning Tree (PLT)
PLT is not just about trees. It's about the environment: land, air, and water.
Project Wild
Prepares young people for decisions affecting people, wildlife and their shared home, Earth.
enviroScape Module
A table top module that illustrates point source and non-point water pollution. Suggested for grades 2-6, but grades 7-12 would also enjoy it.
